Growing up sports were super important to me. In addition to enjoying motorcycling, skiing, and swimming recreationally, I was also a professional tennis player. Those formative years of professional tennis taught me valuable skills that I have leveraged and relied upon ever since.
I started my career as an entrepreneur. Along with my brother, we founded and successfully exited (Leo Burnett) a company in the technology and marketing consulting sectors. My next move was very different. I joined Samsung Electronics, a large and very dynamic company, to manage various functions including sales, human resources, strategy, and operations.

After Samsung, I re-engaged my passion for sports. I spent five years at Futbol Club Barcelona (FCB) as Vice President of International Business Development crafting and executing global marketing and commercial strategies, elevating and positioning the FCB brand, and finding strategic sponsors and partners. I was very fortunate…it coincided with the golden years of FCB with Messi!

After FCB, I spent 5 years at the National Basketball Association (NBA), where I managed significant partnerships across all basketball leagues globally. I then joined City Football Group (CFG) for 5 years, where I held key marketing and commercial leadership positions including Vice President Commercial & Partnerships Americas.

After CFG I took a personal sabbatical and traveled extensively. When I returned, I felt the need to be entrepreneurial again. I invested in, and was the Chief Partnership Officer, for an innovative sports tech company. After a year, I decided I wanted to launch my own boutique agency and founded Hello Sports! Let´s talk!
RAFAEL DE GUZMAN

Hello! My name is Rafa. I am a sports enthusiast based in Madrid, Spain. Growing up in Madrid in the 1980s, I developed a strong passion for a wide range of sports. When I moved to the US for college I was fortunate to play football/soccer at Princeton. After graduating I worked in a variety of branding and marketing roles prior to attending the University of Miami School of Law.

I enjoyed law school but chose not practice law and instead joined Brightstar, a multi-billion dollar company providing services to the telecommunications industry with a local presence in more than 50 countries. During my 15 years at Brightstar, I held various positions including chief of staff, chief marketing officer, and SVP of strategic initiatives, In addition, I was able to re-engage my passion in sports by participating in the acquisition of one of South America’s leading football/soccer clubs and by working to bring Inter Miami, where I served on the inaugural board of directors, to South Florida.

Following my departure from Brightstar, I shifted my focus to investing in startups and supporting high-growth companies. Being an early investor in Hello Sports is a dream come true for me – it is the confluence of my life-long passion for sports and years of international business experience. Game on!
